Service:

Saturday, July 17, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia, Missouri.
Officiating will be: Rev. Dr. Kenneth Jarvis.
Music provided by: Joy Davis, pianist.
Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Stephen Perret`, Richard Schlueter Jr., Dave Sanders, Paul Gene Galloway, Richard Rentfro and Mark McDowell. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Hoover, Louis Schulze, Jerry Zimmer and Tony Teague.

Viva Lane (Spires) Outlaw passed away unexpectedly at 9:18 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at the Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, Missouri. She had lived in Vandalia since 1949 and was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church. Viva had worked as a "bundle girl" in the cutting room at the Bobbi Brooks garment factory in Vandalia for many years.

Born: May 18, 1923 in Bellflower, Missouri the daughter of Hardin James and Josephine (Hamlett) Spires.

Married: Raymond Brice Outlaw on November 26, 1953 at the First Christian Church in Vandalia; he preceded her in death on October 11, 1996.

Survivors include: two sisters, Geneva Parsons of Vandalia and Dorothy Carpet of Jonesburg; several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: husband, Raymond; seven brothers, Henry Spires, Kay Spires, Jewel Spires, Orve Spires, Hardin Spires Jr., Ruben Spires and Wesley Spires.
