Visitation:
Friday, October 15, 2004 from 5 until 8 p.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia, Missouri.
Service:

Saturday, October 16, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 214 N. Jefferson St. in Vandalia, Missouri.
Officiating will be: Rev. Dr. Kenneth Jarvis.
Music provided by: Joy Davis, organist and Ray Werner, soloist.
Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Lloyd Shaw, Kris Shaw, Karl Shaw, Lionel Shaw, Terry Sward and Jeff Messmer. Honorary pallbearers were: Larry J. Shaw, Michael Sisson, Leon Shaw, Kevin Shaw, David Hoer, Keith Shaw, Lee Shaw, Kenneth Shaw, Dennis Hoer, Brian Shaw, Daniel Shaw and Ray Werner.

Virginia Mae (Shaw) Cafer age 81 passed away peacefully at 12:45 a.m. on Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at the Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia, Missouri. She was a lifelong Vandalia area resident and 1941 graduate of Vandalia High School. Virginia was a 70 year member of the First Presbyterian Church in Vandalia where she was active in the Ruth Circle and as a Sunday school teacher. She was a charter member of the Vandaila Country Club and the Vandalia Supper Club. Virginia enjoyed crafts, crochet and spending time with her grandchildren.

Born: December 19, 1922 in rural Vandalia, Missouri the daughter of James Joseph and Rachael Rebecca (Jackson) Shaw Sr.

Married: John Edward Cafer on August 3, 1941 in Hannibal, Missouri, he survives at the home.

Survivors include: husband, John Edward Cafer of Vandalia; one son, James E. and wife, Janet Cafer of Vandalia, Missouri; one daughter, Jeannine Roe of Mexico, Missouri; two brothers Larry W. Shaw of Madrid, Iowa and Alvin O. Shaw of Vandalia; two sisters, Betty Lou Sisson of Bellville, Illinois and Hildred Jean Hoer of Waterloo, Iowa; five grandchildren, Dr. Jason E. and wife, Amy Cafer of Columbia, Missouri; Elizabeth A. Cafer duPlessis and husband Ruan duPlessis of Bloomington, Indiana; Allison M. Cafer of Columbia; Emily R. Roe of Columbia and Adam C. Roe of Mexico, Missouri; one great-grandson, Jack E. Cafer of Columbia; several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: two brothers; twin brother, James Joseph Shaw Jr. and Dwain A. Shaw.
