Obituary

Terence Lee Stinnett, 70, of Vandalia, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the Baptist Homes of Tri-County in Vandalia.

Terence was born on August 29, 1955, in Vandalia; the son of Jack Stinnett and Helen Smith Stinnett. His parents preceded him in death.

Terence dedicated many years of service to the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) before retiring. He was a talented musician who could pick up nearly any instrument and play it by ear. He found great joy in both playing and listening to music. Terence also enjoyed flying remote-control airplanes, working in his yard, tackling carpentry projects, and spending quiet moments watching purple martins soar overhead. Whether riding his motorcycle or bicycle, he appreciated the simple pleasures of life and the outdoors.

He is survived by his son, Ethan Stinnett; his granddaughter, Madelynn Stinnett; his brothers, Scott (Roberta) Stinnett, Bo (Gayla) Stinnett, and Archie Stinnett; his sisters, Sue (Tom) Johnson, Debby Stinnett, Jane Hannaford, and Lisa (Mike) Clayton; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Terence was preceded in death by his brother, Rick Stinnett. Terence was a Christian by faith.

The family will host a private memorial service at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Waters Funeral Home in Vandalia, Missouri.
