Steven Adam Burks

Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.

Steven Adam Burks passed away late Saturday afternoon, December 15, 2012 at his place of work in Columbia, Missouri. Steven attended schools and graduated in 1982 from Joliet West High School. He then attended Joliet Junior College and at the same time was working part-time for UPS. Steven then began working as a driver full-time for UPS and worked in the Joliet area for over ten years. He then moved to the Mexico area and worked at Golden Corral and Audrain Medical Center in the food service area. Steven then moved to Columbia and had worked for several restaurants there. He was a Christian by faith and he enjoyed playing and watching baseball. Steven was an avid baseball card collector since his childhood days and he enjoyed spending time with his son, Steven Jr.

Born: November 10, 1964 in Joliet, Illinois the son of Homer and Anna Margaret (Bryant) Burks.

Survivors include: father, Homer Burks and Gazella Burks of Joliet, Illinois; one son: Steven A. Burks Jr. of Columbia; one daughter, Brittany Burks of Osceola, Arkansas; one step-son, Darrien and wife Sophia Miller of Las Vegas; three sisters: Zelia and husband, James Nunnelly of Mexico; Wendolyn and husband, Jeffery Edwards of Joliet, Illinois and Traci Burks of Rock Falls, Illinois; six aunts: Joyce Jackson and Helen Fowler both of Mexico; Ethel Tinder of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; Laura Williams of University Park, Illinois; Jackie Bryant of St. Louis and Vera Mae Walsh of Vicksburg, Mississippi; five grandchildren: Darrien Miller Jr., Jaiden Miller, Jadin Burks, Donniyah Falls and Adonnis Falls; also survived by four nephews, two nieces and a host of cousins.

Preceded in death by: mother, Anna Margaret Burks; maternal grandparents, Wesley and Flossie Bryant and uncle, Wesley Bryant Jr.; paternal grandparents, Homer and Fannie Ross; aunt, Mae Fortner; uncle, Earl B. Burks.

Memorials are encouraged to an education fund for Steven A. Burks Jr.
