Roy G. McQuay, 73, of Vandalia, MO, a dedicated and compassionate individual, was born on August 2, 1951, in Frankford, MO the son of Carl and Ava Dean (Miller) McQuay. He departed this life on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the Baptist Home of Tri-County in Vandalia.
A visitation in honor of Roy will take place on Saturday, December 28, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Waters Funeral Home, located at 500 S. Main Street, Vandalia, MO. This will be followed by a funeral service starting at 11:00 AM with Bro. Kenny Haddock and Pastor Tim Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery in New London, MO.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Wheeler-McQuay whom he was united in marriage to on July 26, 2007, in Vandalia, MO
Other survivors include his step-daughters, Brandy and Jennifer; sister, Eva Grace McDowell of Davenport, IA; and grandchildren, Dashon, Brianna, and Estevan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Ava Dean (Miller) McQuay; his first and second wives; brothers, Frank, George, and Carl; and sisters, Joyce and Dorothy.
For thirty-seven years, Roy worked diligently for the Missouri Department of Transportation, where his commitment to his career was evident. He approached his work with the same determination and reliability that characterized all aspects of his life. A graduate of Bowling Green High School, he valued education and personal development throughout his life.
Roy's personality shone through in his interactions with others; he was always there to lend a helping hand and enjoyed spending time and visiting with family and friends. He had a passion for life that was reflected in his hobbies and interests. An avid motorcyclist, Roy cherished the adventures of riding and participating in Honor Flights. He found joy in the simple pleasures of taking nighttime walks and was well-known for his remarkable culinary skills, particularly his renowned BBQ.
Mr. McQuay was a faithful member of Faith Tabernacle Church Of God In Christ.
Roy will be remembered fondly by those whose lives he touched, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and vibrant memories.
Pallbearers will be Gary Bishop, William Wheeler, Mike Reynolds, Ronnie Green, Donnell Perkins and Frankie McQuay.
