You already are missed by my wife (Kristy Forman Schott) and I (Ron Schott, formerly of The Vandalia Leader). You always greeted both of us with a smile and asked us how we were doing. For me (Ron), I would come in getting ready to do an all-nighter at work. I'd walk into Abel's to get my snacks and caffeine, and no matter how busy you were, you would say "Hey Newsy" to greet me as I came in the door. It never got old and I will definitely miss hearing you say it. I'm not sure if Abel's ever understood how valuable of an employee you were to them. You were much more than the lady ringing up our purchase. You cared and you were a friend. - from the Schott family

You will forever be missed. We have known each others stories since 1998. So glad I knew you and will miss hearing "Foxy" when I enter Ables. So glad you are pain free now. RIP my friend.

Miss Joanie!!!! How our hearts are breaking for you. You meant the world to our family! Going to Abels and not receiving a word of wisdom from you about life and encouragement will be forever our loss. Please know The Sutton Girls, will miss you and "Hey Sutton, How are you today?"will be etched into our minds everytime we hit the doors at Abels. God love you and blessings to your family!

Oh Sister. Where do I begin? Never in a million years, did I think I would be losing you so soon. Our family, which was your family, will never forget you. We love you so much and it hurts so bad, to have to see you leave us but I will see you later. Thank you for being my sister and for all you did to be there for us, through our February and March, 2019 critically I'll sickness, when I almost lost both Ronald and Kayla. You and Mary were there for us and I will never forget it. To your daughter, your Mom was one of the most caring and loving people that I am so glad l was blessed to know and have in my life. She definitely earned her wings in this world. God has taken one of his Angels back. Fly high, Sister and just know, you will always be loved by us. Love you, forever.

I'm so sad to hear of Joanie's passing. Before I moved to Vandalia, I knew who she was from stories. I will never forget the day she pulled me aside and said "I see you doing this on your own and I want you to know YOU'RE A GOOD MOM and you're doing a great job." That lifted me up so much to know someone saw me.
My life was blessed to know her.
