Melva Ileen (Kennedy) Suddarth passed away peacefully at 8:55 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia. She grew up in Louisiana and was a 1943 Louisiana High School graduate. After school, Melva worked at the Wells-Lamont Glove Factory in Louisiana. She moved to Vandalia with her husband in 1948 and worked for a few years at the Bobbie Brooks Garment Factory. She was a Christian by faith and mostly was a devoted wife, homemaker, mother and grandmother. Melva enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

Born: April 20, 1923 in Louisiana, Missouri the daughter of John William and Inez May (Todd) Kennedy.

Married: Basil Levi Suddarth in Louisiana on July 12, 1946; he preceded her in death on July 18, 1995.

Survivors include: one daughter, Janice Kay Hayden and husband Donald of Blue Springs; one son, Ronald Eugene Suddarth and wife Judy of Vandalia; three grandsons: Brent Hayden and wife Dawn of Lawrence, Kansas; Greg Hayden and wife Melissa of Lee's Summit, Missouri; Derek Suddarth of Bloomington, Illinois; one granddaughter, Shonda Suddarth of Columbia, Missouri; three great-granddaughters: Zoey Hayden and Isabella Hayden of Lee's Summit and Presley Moran of Columbia; one great-grandson, Cannon Moran of Columbia; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: parents; husband, Basil; three brothers: Harold Kennedy, Kenneth Kennedy and J. W. Kennedy.
