Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia.
Officiating will be: Rev. Bob Balwanz.
Music provided by: Ruth Nation - pianist.
Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Andrew Warfield, Wesley Newland, Matt Traynor, Corey Fox, Dave Vandaveer Jr., Larry Finley, Jock Bryson and Aaron Walkley. Honorary pallbearer was Jack Hughes.

Mary Edith (Seeley) Newland passed away at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, Missouri. She grew up in the rural Middletown area and attended Swope school. Mary Edith was a longtime member of the Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church near Vandalia where she had served as both a deacon and an elder. She had resided on the family farm south of town, working alongside her husband until his death. She raised chickens, sold eggs and helped her son with the farm for many more years. Mary Edith enjoyed babysitting the grandkids, gardening, yard work and the Monday Study Club.

Born: July 23, 1926 in rural Middletown, Missouri the daughter of Hugh E. and Flossie A. (Cobb) Seeley.

Married: James William "J. W." Newland on December 22, 1945 in Bowling Green, Missouri; he preceded her in death on October 25, 1975.

Survivors include: one son, Terry E. and wife, Lisa Newland of rural Vandalia; three daughters: Peggy Warfield of Berger, Missouri; Selma A. Beedle and John Andrusejko of Vandalia; Davina A. and husband, Tom Hughes of Middletown; two brothers: Loyd and wife, Betty Seeley of Laddonia; Gene and wife, Bonnie Seeley of Vandalia; two sisters: Grace Teacutter of Moberly, Missouri; Dorothy Moore of Auxvasse; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: parents; husband, J. W.; one brother and his wife, Tom and Virginia Seeley; two brothers-in-law: James Moore and Robert Teacutter; one son-in-law, John Warfield; one grandson, James William Newland.
