Service:

Saturday, September 24, 2011 10:30 a.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel, 500 S. Main Street in Vandalia 63382.
Officiating will be: Rev. Bob Hoehn.
Music provided by: selected favorite songs.
Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Jared Baskett, Aron Baskett, Justin Jones, John Ogden, Robert Stotler and Todd Hutcheson. Honorary pallbearers: Richard Cordes, David Cordes, Mason Carver, Cameron Jones, Larry Robinson, Mike Branham, Ronnie Branham, Todd Udelhoven, Richard Baker, Wayne Baker and Dylan Baskett.

Mary Helen (Baker) Baskett passed away at 12:51 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at the Hannibal Regional Hospital. Mary attended schools in the Bowling Green area and was baptized into the Baptist Church. After her marriage to Bob, she worked as a nurse for several years at the Pike County Memorial Hospital. Mary then worked for 20 years as a nurse's aide at Moore-Pike Nursing Home in Bowling Green. She then became a full-time caregiver in the home of Floyd Chinn for over 12 years. Mary enjoyed camping, cooking, taking care of neighbors and friends and spending time with her grandchildren.

Born: April 24, 1935 in St. Louis the daughter of Chauncey Byren and Elizabeth Irene (Peery) Baker.

Married: Robert Eugene Baskett on August 21, 1953 in Bowling Green, Missouri; he survives at the home.

Survivors include: husband, Bob of Vandalia; three sons: Byron E. Baskett of Mexico, Missouri; Gary L. Baskett of Vandalia; Terry L. and wife, Kristina Baskett of Harmony, Florida; two daughters: Nancy L. and husband, Ray Warren of Vandalia; Patricia A. Grimmett of Vandalia; one brother, Charles Robert Baker of Bowling Green; three sisters: Opal Stotler of Vandalia; Willa Mae Carr of Bowling Green; Katie Marie Marsh of Bowling Green; sister-in-law, Marie B. Baker; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: parents; a daughter who died in infancy; one brother, Chauncey Melvin Baker; one sister, Lola Moore.
