Officiating will be: Rev. Bob Hoehn.
Music provided by: Shirley Forgy - pianist; Brian Hummel - soloist.
Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery with full military honors.
Pallbearers: Bill Stafford, Joel Zimmer, Jim Balmer, Herb Menneke, Nick Menneke and Larry Wheeler. Honorary pallbearers: Danielle and Brandon Bealmear, Megan George, Kristen George, Paige Ann Menneke and Noah Menneke.

Marvin Duane "Burny" Burnett passed away unexpectedly at 8:46 p.m. on Sunday, June 20, 2010 at the Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, Missouri. Burny was a 1967 Van-Far High School graduate and served in Vietnam with the U. S. Army. He attended the Moeller Barber College in Kansas City and worked as a barber in the area until 1978. Burny worked at Harbison Walker Refractories in Vandalia from 1978 until 1985. He then opened a bakery in town until 1993, when he moved to the St. Louis area. While in St. Louis, he worked in food service at several locations including DePaul Hospital, Dierberg's and Sam's Club until returning to open "54 & Main" Restaurant in Vandalia. Burny operated the restaurant for several years before joining Audrain Medical Center as the food service supervisor. He lived most of his life in the Vandalia area and was a member of the Middletown Baptist Church. Burny had also been active in the Optimist Club and Vandalia Chamber of Commerce as well as serving as a deacon at the First Baptist Church.

Born: August 9, 1948 in Mexico, Missouri the son of Marvin Paul and Margie Jean (Boyd) Burnett.

Married: Helen Marie Allen from July 1, 1972 until 1999.

Survivors include: parents, Marvin and Margie Burnett of rural Vandalia; one daughter, Makayla D. and husband, John Anderson of St. Peters, Missouri; one brother, Danny R. and wife Connie Burnett of Vandalia, Missouri; one sister, Jeannie K. and husband, Craig George of rural Vandalia; special friend, Ruth Ann Menneke of Mexico, Missouri; one grandson, Andrew Paul Anderson of St. Peters; three nieces: Danielle and husband, Brandon Bealmear; Megan George and Kristen George.

Preceded in death by: grandparents, Paul and Gertrude Burnett and Jim and Katie Boyd.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to the Van-Far Alumni Scholarship Fund in care of Van-Far High School, Vandalia, Missouri 63382.
