Tuesday, June 3, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia.
Service:

Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel.
Officiating will be: Rev. Joel Montgomery.
Music provided by: selected favorite hymns.
Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Patrick Rawlings, John Rawlings, Mike White, Tony Hand and David White.

Martha Louise (Peabody) Schriefer passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 11:30 p.m. at the Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia, Missouri. She was a lifelong area resident and of rural Curryville and Vandalia. Martha attended schools in Curryville and was a 1936 graduate of Curryville High School. After her marriage to John, she worked as a store clerk for several businesses in Vandalia; among them was the jewelry store, Pearson's Clothing Store and P N Hirsch. Martha was a 50+ year member of the First Presbyterian Church in Vandalia where she had sang in the choir many years ago. She also enjoyed working on ceramics and growing her flowers.

Born: May 9, 1918 near Curryville, Missouri the daughter of Lloyd P. and Maurine (Chamberlain) Peabody.

Married: John H. Schriefer on November 9, 1939 in Troy, Missouri; he preceded her in death on March 22, 2001.

Survivors include: three nieces, Pamela White and Debra Rawlings both of Columbia, Missouri and Maurine Ringstrom of Alexandria, Missouri; also survived by several cousins.

Preceded in death by: parents; husband, John; one son, John Lloyd Schriefer; two sisters: Frances S. Cash and Willeyene Ringstrom.
