Martha M. Allen

Martha M. Allen, age 97, of Vandalia, MO passed away at 9:45 am Monday, September 27, 2021, at Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, October 1, 2021 at Waters Funeral Home. Pastor Luke Wolters will officiate. Burial will be in the Allen Family Cemetery following the service.

Martha was born on February 12, 1924, in Busch, Missouri the daughter of Edward and Helen (Foehringer) Maenner.

She was united in marriage to Melvin Allen on February 14, 1946 in Hannibal, MO. He preceded her in death on October 3, 1993.

She was also preceded in death by her Parents; Son, Marvin Allen; Three Brothers, Albert Maenner, Louis Maenner, and William Maenner; Three Sisters, Pauline Jennings, Lucille Johnson, and Josephine Jensen; and Step Grandchild, Jerry Lynn.

Survivors include Grandson, Tony Allen; Daughter-in-law, Judy Allen; Two great-grandchildren, Michael Allen and Caitlin Allen; Three Step Grandsons, Kirk McBride, Eddie McBride and Darill Lynn, all of Vandalia, MO.

Martha and Melvin moved to the Hays Creek Neighborhood in 1949 where she was a homemaker and helped run Allen's Home Improvement with her husband and son from 1976 to 1992. She enjoyed working on the farm, helping with the carpet shop and spending time with her family. Martha had been a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Vandalia since 1958.

Pallbearers will be Kirk McBride, Eddie McBride, Darrill Lynn, Danny Hubert, Dale Hogue and Tony Allen.

Honorary Pallbearers are Dewayne Hogue and Michael Allen.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 1001 Craig Road, St. Louis, MO 63141 , in care of Waters Funeral Home.

I just found out about Aunt Martha's passing. I have fond memories of visiting her and Uncle Mel when I was a child with my Dad, Charles Allen, and later as an adult. My condolences go out to her surviving family.
