Interment will be in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Vandalia.
Pallbearers: Randall Galloway, Rodney Galloway, Allan Galloway, Alvin Fowler, Dean Middleton and Jerry Cragen. Honorary pallbearers: Wade Belts, Bill Nation, Raymond Abington, Kenneth Herlinger and Larry Naysmith.
Lloyd Eugene Galloway passed away at 5:27 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at the Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia, Missouri. Lloyd was a lifelong Vandalia area resident and member of the Vandalia United Methodist Church. After school, Lloyd worked a few years before enlisting in the U. S. Army at the start of WW II. Upon completion of his service in the Army, Lloyd returned to Vandalia and began working at Harbison Walker Refractories in the pressroom. He worked at the refractories for over 44 years, retiring in 1982. In his earlier years, Lloyd had been active in the Tri-County Saddle Club and the Saturday evening supper club. He enjoyed farming, horses and gardening.
Born: September 18, 1918 in Vandalia, Missouri the son of Lyle Lefever and Mary Esther (Rohr) Galloway.
Married: Rosalee Frances Belts on March 8, 1948 in Wellsville, Missouri; she preceded him in death on September 18, 1974. He then married Valerie "Val" B. Pierceall Schutz on May 28, 1976 in Vandalia, Missouri; she survives at the home.
Survivors include: wife, Val of Vandalia; one son: Nelson E. Galloway of Los Angeles, California; one daughter: Sharon F. and husband, Richard Wise of rural Farber, Missouri; one step-son: Obie Guy Schutz of Ft. Worth, Texas; one step-daughter: Keela K. and husband, Artie Brooks of Wellsville; three brothers: J. B. Galloway of Laddonia, Missouri; Lyndell Galloway of Centralia, Missouri and Ronald Galloway of Vandalia; Janice Naysmith of Laddonia; brother-in-law: Wade Belts of Vandalia; 16 grandchildren: Mark Wise of Curryville, Missouri; Jill McCurdy of Wellsville; Jennifer Williams of Farber; Alison Schutz of Chicago; Heather Schutz of Canton; Nathan Schutz, Joshua Schutz, Matthew Schutz, Jonathan Schutz, Benjamin Schutz, Reuben Schutz, Abigail Schutz, Timothy Schutz and Joanna Schutz all of Ft. Worth, Texas; Kayla Brooks of Maryville, Missouri and Lisa Brooks of Wellsville; also survived by four great-grandchildren: Makayla McCurdy of Wellsville; Mallory Williams and Audrey Williams of Farber and Emily Schutz of Ft. Worth, Texas; several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: one brother: Durward Galloway; three sisters: Lois Fowler, JoAnn Boyd and Mary Sue Galloway who died in infancy; one step-son: Harvey W. Schutz.
Memorials are encouraged to the Vandalia United Methodist Church.
