Monday, December 6, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia, Missouri.
Officiating will be: Rev. Roger Thomas.
Music provided by: selected favorite hymns.
Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Randy Hamlett, Joey Hamlett, Rick McAfee, Scott Otis, Stan Smith and Gene Traynor.
Leota Bell Hamlett passed away at 12:40 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 2004 at the Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia, Missouri where she had been a resident for about a year and a half. She attended the Estes schools and Estes Presbyterian Church. Leota had been a homemaker on the family farm all her adult life and enjoyed as her hobbies needlework, crochet, gardening and flowers.
Born: June 13, 1906 in Estes, Missouri the daughter of Charles and Cassie (Hagood) Thompson.
Married: Sylvan Hamlett on July 2, 1928 in Bowling Green, Missouri; he preceded her in death on August 10, 1994.
Survivors include: two sons, S. Wayne and wife, Magdalene Hamlett and Vaughn and wife, Mary Hamlett, all of Vandalia; five grandchildren: Randy W. Hamlett of Owasso, Oklahoma; Shelly D. McAfee, Joey L. Hamlett and Lisa A. Otis all of Vandalia and Kelly L. Smith of Perry; seven great-grandchildren: Jacqueline Hamlett, Austin W. Hamlett, Mitchell McAfee, Madeline McAfee, Melani Hamlett, Alicia Otis and Brandon Otis.
Preceded in death by: husband, Sylvan; two brothers, Delbert "Dutch" Thompson and Hurley Thompson; three sisters, Nellie Atkinson, Della Martin and twin sister, Leola Trower.
