Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Roger Jennings, Eddie Joe Bland, Lyle Ray Bland, Randy Bland, Robert Hillenberg and Don Conklin.
Leland Brice Bland passed away at 1:35 a.m. on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at the Hannibal Regional Hospital. Leland attended school in Curryville and was a lifelong resident of rural Curryville. After school, Leland joined the U. S. Army for two years and then returned to rural Curryville and continued doing what he loved, farming with his parents on the family farm. For the past eight years, he was a resident of Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia where he enjoyed the staff, residents, bingo and watching Wheel of Fortune. Leland was a member of the Elm Grove Baptist Church.
Born: September 12, 1927 in rural Audrain County the son of Orville Lee "Pete" and Cutie (Brice) Bland.
Married: Norma Gene Martin in Bowling Green, Missouri.
Survivors include: two daughters: LeAnn B. and husband, Damon Young of Dunlap, Illinois; Paula Fletcher of Vandalia, Missouri; one son: Roger Jennings of Mexico, Missouri; grandsons: Dawson G. Young of Dunlap, Illinois, Gabe Jennings of Vandalia and granddaughter: Allison Fletcher of Vandalia; great-grandson: Matthew B. Jennings and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: parents; three brothers: Elmo Bland, Jimmie Lee Bland and Orville Bland Jr. who died in infancy; one sister: Pauline Hillenberg and two sons: Michael Jennings and Bill Jennings.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Children's Foundation of Mid-America, 1353 N. Warson Rd., St. Louis, MO 63132.
