Service:

Friday, December16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Officiating: Father Mark Porterfield.
Music: church choir.
Interment: the Vandalia Cemetery with full military honors.
Pallbearers: Kevin Griggs, Bill Hogue, Randy Lewis, Don Struse, Errett Pargeon and Don Ingram.

James Rodger Drainer passed away unexpectedly at 6:11 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2016 at his home in Vandalia. Jim grew up and attended schools in the Vandalia area. He worked at the International Shoe Company in Vandalia before entering the U. S. Navy in 1962 and served three years active duty. Upon returning from the service, Jim worked at CE Refractories in Farber until the plant closed. He then worked for at A. B. Chance as a maintenance supervisor, retiring in 2003. Jim enjoyed Cardinal baseball, Mizzou football and basketball.

Born: July23, 1940 in Spencersburg, Missouri the son of Victor Charles and Hazel (Hetzel) Drainer.

Married: Ione J. Fielder in Bowling Green on June 4, 1967; she preceded him in death on November 8, 2008.

Survivors include: two daughters: Brinda L. and Gene Pargeon of Vandalia; Tess I. and Ron Hendrix of Vandalia; one brother, John and Nina Drainer of Jefferson City; one sister, Ruth Ann and husband, Mel Jones of Jefferson City; two grandchildren: Travis Hendrix of Vandalia and Sean Lovelace of Jefferson City; one great-grandson: Zach Lovelace.

Preceded in death by: parents and wife, Ione; two brothers: Norman and Charles Drainer; one grandson: Christopher Lovelace.

Memorials are encouraged to the Juvenile Diabetes Association
