Jacqueline Yvonne (Wiser) Jones, age 76, of Rock Island, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on Friday, July 24, 2026.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Second Missionary Baptist Church Worship Center in Vandalia, Missouri. Burial will follow at Vandalia Cemetery.
Visitation celebrating Jacqueline's life will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Second Missionary Baptist Church Worship Center.
The family is being served by Waters Funeral Home of Vandalia.
Jacqueline was born on October 6, 1949, in Mexico, Missouri, the daughter of Kenneth Wiser, Sr. and Ida Mae (Kerr) Wiser.
She was united in marriage to James E. Jones on April 16, 1987, in Vandalia, Missouri. He survives her.
In addition to her loving husband, survivors include her children, William Hammers, Jr. (Liz), Travis Hammers (Kristen), and Ronnette Lerma, all of Mexico, Missouri; James Jones, Jr. (Teresa) of Rock Island, Illinois; Katrina Smith of Davenport, Iowa; Angela Brown of Atlanta, Georgia; Kimberly Lawless (Don) and Porshia Brown, both of Davenport, Iowa; her siblings, Janet Wiser Turner (Ronald) and Wanda Wiser Connor (Louis), both of Vandalia, Missouri, and Darrell Wiser of Macon, Missouri; four sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; her special companion, "Ebony"; sixteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, Neaven Hammers; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Jacqueline was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. David Cheatom and Mr. and Mrs. John Wiser; her brother, Kenneth Wiser, Jr.; her sister-in-law, Valerie Wiser; and her great-grandchildren, Anthony (Walden) Hammers and Iviana (Walden) Hammers.Jacqueline dedicated her career to caring for others, working in the medical field as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Her compassionate spirit and servant's heart touched the lives of many throughout her years of service.
She enjoyed playing Bingo, traveling back to Vandalia to spend time with her family, and visiting Mississippi to be with James' family. Jacqueline had a special gift in the kitchen and was well known for her delicious homemade cookies and cakes, which she lovingly shared with family and friends. Above all, she treasured every moment spent with those she loved, and her family was the center of her life.
Jacqueline was a longtime and faithful member of Second Missionary Baptist Church Worship Center. Her faith in the Lord was unwavering, and she often spoke of "coming home" when the Lord called her to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Pallbearers will be Don Lawless, Jonathan Griffith, Larry Wheeler, Maurice Jones, James Jones, Jr., and William Spencer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Turner, Louis Connor, Darrell Wiser, Donnell Perkins, and Jerome Collier.
Memorial contributions may be made to Second Missionary Baptist Church Worship Center, in care of Waters Funeral Home.
