Wednesday, July 29, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia.

Service:

Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Vandalia.
Officiating: Pastor Ken Schamber.
Music: Eldora Lowery - organist.
Interment: Jefferson Barracks Cemetery on Thursday, July 30th at 2:30 p.m. with full military honors.
Pallbearers: Anthony Craig, Brian Craig, Kevin Craig, Matthew Meyer, Ryan Blubaugh and Nicholas Blubaugh.

Herbert John Craig passed away unexpectedly at 1:26 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Mercy Lincoln County Hospital in Troy, Missouri. Herb grew up and attended schools in the Maryland Heights area of St. Louis. At the age of 17, he joined the U. S. Army to serve his country during the Korean War. After returning from the service, he worked as a sandhogger in the construction industry in the St. Louis area. In 1962, Herb started working for LaClede Gas company in the service and installation department. He worked there for over 37 years, retiring in 1999. Herb was a faithful member of the St. John Lutheran Church and was active with the church's Thrivent Financial for Lutherans program. He was also active helping with the Laddonia Food Pantry, an avid Cardinal baseball fan, working in his garden and orchard on the farm and watching the grandchildren in their various activities.

Born: December 26, 1934 in St. Louis the son of Walter John and Irma Forest (Arney) Craig.

Married: Wanda Lou Capps on September 15, 1956 in University City; she preceded him in death on April 8, 2001.

Survivors include: two sons: Michael Scott Craig of St. Peters; David Lee Craig of Maryland Heights; three daughters: Juanita Lyn Meyer of St. Louis; Karen Ruth Craig of Raytown, Missouri; Lisa Joanne Williams of St. Ann; five sisters: Carol Craig of St. Ann; Jeannette Witherspoon of Springfield, Missouri; Patricia Miller of St. Peters; Lois Kennedy; Nora Outlaw of Florissant; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: parents; wife, Wanda; one son, Mark John Craig; three brothers: Walter Craig, William Craig and Clark Craig.

Memorials are encouraged to the Laddonia Food Pantry or to the St. John Lutheran Church in Vandalia
