Georgia L. "Helen" (Stottlemeyer) Archer passed away at 2:48 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia. She grew up and attended schools in Hannibal with the class of 1944. After school and her marriage to George, he answered his country's call during World War II. They moved to Norfolk, Virginia where Helen worked in the shipyards as a welder and riveter while George was deployed. Helen then moved back to Hannibal until George returned from the war, then they bought a house and moved to Vandalia. For a short time, they moved to a farm south of Vandalia and share-cropped for six years. They then bought a farm nearby and lived there for many years. Helen was a faithful and devoted member of the Vandalia United Methodist Church where she enjoyed Bible study group. She also enjoyed traveling and camping all over the country with George on their matching motorcycles. They spent many winters in Brownsville, Texas and she enjoyed all types of crafts including basket-weaving, painting and macramé.

Born: August 4, 1923 in Pike Station, Illinois the daughter of George and Lucretia (Shellhorse) Stottlemeyer.

Married: George Fields Archer on August 31, 1940; he preceded her in death on February 18, 1983.

Survivors include: one daughter, Sandra L. Woggon and Denis Rogan of Forest Park, Illinois; three grandchildren: Lorna E. McNamara of Dixon, Illinois; Althea Sawalski of Huntley, Illinois and Archer Woggon of Chicago; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Preceded in death by: parents; husband, George; one brother, Paul A. Ator and one sister, Jackie Denish.
