Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Jeffrey Stathem, Shaun Marshall, Lucas Branstetter, James O'Neil, David Francis, Daniel Francis, Josiah Marshall and Dylan Marshall. Honorary pallbearers: Jake Gentry, Bill Bontz and Jake Dowell.
Guy Edward Marshall passed at 11:15 a.m. on Monday August 9, 2010 at his home in Vandalia. Ed lived all his life in the Vandalia area and graduated with the Vandalia High School class of 1956. He worked at Harbison Walker Refractories in the press room as a transfer operator for 43 years, retiring in September 1999. Ed loved woodcarving and cycling. He cycled across the country on "vacation time" to Tulsa, Oklahoma, Marshalltown, Iowa and Huntington, West Virginia. Later in years, he frequently would go on 50 mile bicycle rides along the country roads. Ed also enjoyed "bottle digging" and arrowhead hunting with his children. He was a self-taught musician and could play anything he set his mind to learn. He enjoyed playing and listening to all kinds of music. Ed loved the Lord with all of his heart, sharing his testimony and stories of miracles with friends and loved ones.
Born: August 23, 1937 in Vandalia, Missouri the son of William Guy and Florence Mae (Greenwood) Marshall.
Married: Donna Pearl DeGraffenried; he then married Charlene L. "Jackie" Shotten on May 27, 1978 in Bowling Green, Missouri; both of whom survive.
Survivors include: sons, Guy Edward Marshall and special friend Gail Weedman of Vandalia; David Phillip and wife, Debbie Marshall of Vandalia; William Benjamin Marshall of Vandalia and Timothy Darrin and wife, Melissa Marshall of Moberly, Missouri; one daughter, Katherine Pearl and husband, Paul Lamberson of Vandalia; three step-daughters, Donna and husband, Greg McCune of Kingdom City, Missouri; Patty and husband, Jeff Stathem of Mexico, Missouri and Judy Francis and husband, Rick Francis of Louisiana, Missouri; one brother, Charles Kenneth and wife, Melba Marshall of Edgewood, Missouri; also survived by 33 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: parents and one sister, Laura Mae Bontz.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to the donor's choice of hospice services.
