In Loving Memory of Guy Edward Marshall Jr.
Guy Edward Marshall Jr., 68, of Vandalia, Missouri, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026.Born on November 10, 1957, Guy was a lifelong resident of Vandalia.
He graduated from Van-Far High School with the Class of 1975 and later attended Mid-America Nazarene University. Throughout his life, he was known for his sharp mind, generous heart, unwavering faith, and willingness to help anyone in need.
Guy was the owner of Captain Computers, where he repaired and built computers for countless people throughout the community. Whether accepting payment, bartering for goods, or simply helping someone free of charge, he found joy in using his knowledge to serve others. His kindness and generosity touched many lives and left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know him.
Guy had a very strong faith in the Lord . He believed in helping others, showing compassion, and sharing God’s love through his actions. He was a man of integrity whose quiet acts of kindness often spoke louder than words.
Guy was a man of many talents and interests. He loved fishing, photography, building computers, tinkering with just about anything, constructing brick stoves, building rockets, flying fighter kites, and making YouTube videos of himself singing and playing the guitar. Music brought him great joy, especially when he gathered with his brothers and sister to sing and play together. He approached every hobby with enthusiasm, creativity, and a genuine sense of wonder.
A role that brought him great happiness was portraying Santa Claus for the Vandalia community. For a couple of years, he spread Christmas joy to children and families and made special visits to local nursing home residents, bringing smiles, laughter, and hope to those who needed it most. His gentle spirit and generous heart made him a Santa that many will always remember.
Guy never met a stranger. He was a loyal friend to many, always ready to lend a helping hand, share a laugh, tell a memorable story, or offer encouragement. Those who knew him will remember his sense of humor, his creativity, his willingness to help others, and the countless memories they shared with him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Guy Edward Marshall Sr. (2010); his mother, Donna Pearl DeGraffenried (2015); his brother, William Benny Guy Marshall (2026); and his grandfather (2004).
He is lovingly survived by his daughter, Amanda Simonton and his cherished granddaughter, Dre’Yona Nash. his brothers, David Phillip Marshall and his wife Debbie, and Timothy Darrin Marshall and his wife Sara; his sister, Kathy Lamberson and her husband Paul; and his Special Friend Gina Balayti along with several beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
Guy’s legacy is not measured by possessions but by the lives he touched, the people he helped, and the memories he created. He leaves behind a community made better by his kindness, a family who loved him deeply, and friends who will forever treasure the stories, laughter, music, and generosity he shared so freely.
Though he will be deeply missed, his faith assures us that this is not goodbye, but until we meet again
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
