George Samuel Knife passed away at 7:42p.m. on Saturday, August6, 2016 at his home in Vandalia. Sam grew up in Ohioand was a 1968 graduate of Marietta College with a bachelor's degree in education.While he was attending college, Sam started working part time for Coate Brothers Construction in West Milton, Ohio as a bulldozer operator. After graduating from college, he started working full time with Coate Brothers and worked as a dozer operator until he retired in 2007. Sam was a Christian by faith and enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his family and friends.

Born: January21, 1943 in Troy, Ohio, the son of George Lawrence and Anna Vivian (Stebelton) Knife.

Married: Sandra Lee Lowerre in Ohio; she survives.

Survivors include: wife, Sandra of Vandalia; one son, Joe Knife of Crestwood, Kentucky; one daughter, Jenny Knife of Indianapolis, Indiana; one step-son, Lee Leary of Saint John, Missouri; one brother, Scot Knife of Troy, Ohio; five grandchildren: Katie, Benjamin, Sean, Carlos and Patricia; also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by: parents; one brother, Steve Knife; one sister, Sonny Rae Knife.
