Saturday, August 27, 2005 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia, Missouri.
Service:

Sunday, August 28, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 213 N. Lindell in Vandalia, Missouri.
Officiating will be: Rev. Derek Grigg.
Music provided by:
Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.

George M. Johnson passed away at 1:55 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2005 at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Peters, Missouri. George was born in Utica, Missouri and spent just a few years in the Hannibal area with his parents before moving to the Vandalia area. George was a 1950 Vandalia High School graduate and after working a few years in Moline, Illinois, he started at Harbison Walker Refractories in the specialty department. He was a panel board operator at Harbison Walker for 51 years, retiring on January 1, 2003. George was active in the First Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher, trustee and a deacon for over 33 years.

Born: December 22, 1930 in Utica, Missouri the son of Durward Burdett and Lillie (Whalen) Johnson Sr.

Married: Carol H. Allen in Vandalia on July 3, 1954; she survives at the home.

Survivors include: wife, Carol of Vandalia; two sons, Bruce Michael and wife, Brenda Kay Johnson of Oak Grove, Missouri and Dennis George and wife, Lori Lynn Johnson of Foristell, Missouri; one brother, Durward B. Johnson Jr. of Vandalia; four grandchildren, Rhett Michael Johnson, Shannon Kay Johnson, Ashley Louise Johnson and Austin Michael Johnson.

Preceded in death by: parents and two sisters, Lamona Bontz and Velma Caldwell.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, P O Box 64, Vandalia, Missouri 63382 or the American Cancer Society.
