Music: Grandson, Nik Wood.
Interment: Interment of his cremains will take place later.
Pallbearers:

Gary Layne Black passed away 5:39 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2015 at the family home north of Vandalia. Gary graduated from high school in St. Louis and was a 1963 graduate from Southeast Missouri State College in Cape Girardeau. After college, he moved to St. Louis and worked for McDonnell Douglas in the Requisition Department for 20 years. He then bought a farm north of Vandalia and farmed from 1984 until 2013. He enjoyed quail hunting, reading and was a Civil War buff.

Born: October 29, 1940 in St. Louis the son of Gilbert and Evelyn V. (Custer) Black.

Married: Dorothy Sue Utterback on March 4, 1989.

Survivors include: wife, Dorothy of the home; children, Cyndi Black of Manchester, Missouri; Tim Wood, Jon and Lisa Wood of Madison, Missouri; Greg and Kelly DeLine of Columbia; grandchildren: Joshua and Kim Dionne Wood of Northampton, Massachusetts; Tyler and Trey Wood of Madison; Spencer and Tara Wood of Paris, Missouri; Nikolas Wood of Columbia; LeRone and Aimee Briggs, Charlie and Jessica Christiansen of Jefferson City; great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Xavier and Lanee; Lincoln, Kezia, Asher and Addie.

Preceded in death by: parents; one grandson, Jacob Shafer.
