Saturday, August 15, 2009 from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the First Christian Church in Vandalia, Missouri.
Service:

Saturday, August 15, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church, 205 W. Park Street in Vandalia, Missouri 63382.
Officiating will be: Rev. Eldon Wilson.
Music provided by: Barbara Elzea - organist; Wayne Lynn - soloist.
Interment will be in the Salem Cemetery south of Center, Missouri.
Pallbearers: Richard Rentfro, Tim Kurz, Walt Runyon, Al Wortman, Brian Snodgrass and Robert Gregory.

Everett Warren Griggs passed away at 8:55 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri. He was a lifelong Vandalia area resident and longtime member of the First Christian Church where he had served as a deacon for many years. Everett graduated in 1942 from the Vandalia High School and then started working at the Harbison Walker Refractories plant in Vandalia. He served his country in the U. S. Army in the late 40's and then again during the Korean Conflict. After his military service, Everett returned to Vandalia and his work as a mold maker at the brick plant. He worked at the plant for over 43 years, retiring in 1988. Everett enjoyed reading, woodworking, music, walking and he really enjoyed being able to travel to the Holy Land twice.

Born: August 16, 1923 in Center, Missouri the son of Thomas Warren and Ruby Ione (Pierceall) Griggs.

Married:

Survivors include: one brother: Joe and wife, Rheva Griggs of Vandalia; two sister: Helen and husband, Bob Jerman of Vandalia and Norma Willis of Springfield, Missouri; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: parents and one brother, James Griggs who died in infancy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to the Central Christian College of the Bible, 911 E. Urbandale Drive, Moberly, Missouri 65270.
