Eldon Wayne Gessman

Eldon Wayne Gessman, age 78, of Vandalia, MO passed away at 2:46 am Sunday, December 6, 2020, at the Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, Missouri. 

The family will host a memorial service at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Waters Funeral Home in Vandalia, Missouri. 

Eldon was born on January 25, 1942, in Eolia, Missouri the son of Elmo and Emma (Pollard) Gessman.

He was united in marriage to Mary Lee Gessman on April 6, 1974 in Montgomery City, Missouri. She survives him of the home. 

Other survivors included five children, Kenny (Deborah) Gessman of Wellsville, MO, Twila Gessman of Mexico, MO, James Lee (Melissa) Pollard of Athens, AL, Lynnette Mays of Hannibal, MO, Deena (William) Eckhoff of Vandalia, MO; one sister, Gayle (Gary) Labanca of Bellflower, MO; one brother, Stanley (Ann) Hazel of Vandalia, MO; twenty nine grandchildren, forty two great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Murry Gessman, Roger Gessman, Ronald Gessman; one son, Dennis Gessman and one daughter, Marietta Siebel.

Eldon worked as a Corrections Officer for Missouri Department of Corrections - Women's Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Vandalia.

He was a member of  Living Water Ministries of Perry, MO and loved his church. Eldon loved drawing, fishing, puzzles and being outdoors on the farm. He loved his grandkids and spending time with them more than anything and will be missed dearly.

These man was a great person..he always callled me little Meri and gave me a hug when ever he sees me .. will great miss him and his talks .. I'm glad I have a lot of memories with this family
