Service:

Friday, December 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel, 500 S. Main Street in Vandalia 63382.
Officiating will be: Rev. Justin Franke.
Music provided by: selected favorite hymns.
Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Vandalia.
Pallbearers: Zachary Bailey, Dylan Bailey, Kari Bailey, P. A. Hull, Richard Dodd and Russell Branstetter.

Edna Mae (Smith) Bailey passed away at 11:10 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia, Missouri. She attended Ralls County schools and worked on the family's farm until her marriage to Walter in 1930. Edna Mae then continued helping her husband on their farm and raising their family. She was a member of the Farber Christian Church, an active member of the Farber Kitchen Band, which consisted of funnels, hoses, washtubs and numerous kitchen utensils. The band went to many nursing homes to entertain the residents with their special music. Edna Mae enjoyed collecting memorabilia, she was a gifted seamstress and a member of the local 4-H chapter.

Born: December 5, 1909 in rural Ralls County, Missouri the daughter of Clay C. and Mabel (Wasson) Smith.

Married: Walter C. Bailey on January 7, 1930; he preceded her in death in 1972.

Survivors include: one son, C. Leon Bailey, PhD. of Chicago where he teaches at Roosevelt College; one daughter, Vernelle and husband, Calvin Hull of Farber, Missouri; four grandchildren: Zachary, Dylan and Kari Bailey all of the Chicago area; Diane Branstetter of Lone Jack, Missouri; two great-grandchildren: Rachel Branstetter of Ozark, Missouri and Tyler Branstetter of Springfield, Missouri; also survived by special friend and roommate since 2003, Pauline McCurdy.

Preceded in death by: parents; husband, Walter; one brother, Clyde Smith.
