Sunday, December 8, 2013 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia.
Service:

Monday, December 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Spencer Creek Baptist Church northwest of Vandalia.
Officiating will be: Rev. Bob Hoehn and Mr. Travis Gibson.
Music provided by: Donnie Gibson - organist; Sharon Hoehn - pianist; Deanna Divins - soloist; Travis Gibson - soloist.
Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Grandsons, Andy Gibson, Jon Gibson, Jeremy Gibson, Lucas Gibson, Travis Gibson, Kyle Gibson and Dustin Gibson. Honorary pallbearers: Granddaughters, Lindsay Knoll, Alicia Villanueva, Katie Matzen, Kelly Gibson, Hayli Gibson, Mandy Reading and Alyssa Gibson.

Duane Lee Gibson passed away unexpectedly at 3:38 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the family farm northwest of Vandalia. He was a lifelong rural Vandalia resident and was a 1943 Vandalia High School graduate. After graduating, Duane joined the U. S. Army Air Corps and served in the Phillipines during World War II. Upon returning home, he continued to farm near his boyhood home and has for over 60 years. Duane was a longtime member of the Spencer Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was a member of the Gideon's, a member of the NFO, member of Vandalia VFW Post 2173, the Liberty Community Association and he had received the Master Farmer Award. Duane was very proud of his five sons, enjoyed quail hunting with them and teaching the grandkids how to fish. He was always willing to help folks in need.

Born: February 21, 1926 in rural Vandalia the son of Frank Clare and Inez Lucille (Williams) Gibson.

Married: Natalie Dare Moyers on July 24, 1949 in rural Monroe City, Missouri.

Survivors include: wife, Natalie of rural Vandalia; five sons: Dennis L. and wife, Carla Gibson of New Braunfels, Texas; Jerry D. and wife, Patti Gibson of Kalama, Washington; James F. and wife, Dani Gibson of Edwards, Illinois; David V. Gibson of rural Vandalia; Donald C. and wife, Gina Gibson of rural Vandalia; 14 grandchildren: Andy Gibson and Lindsay Knoll both of Texas; Jon Gibson of California; Jeremy Gibson of Oregon; Alicia Villanueva of Pennsylvania; Katie Matzen of Colorado; Kelly Gibson of Connecticut; Hayli Gibson of Illinois; Lucas Gibson and Travis Gibson of Missouri; Kyle Gibson of Illinois; Dustin Gibson, Mandy Reading and Alyssa Gibson all of Missouri; also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: parents.
