Officiating will be: Rev. John Harris.
Music provided by: church choir
Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Kenneth "Peaches" Wheeler, Michael Reynolds, Jamie Wheeler, Donnelle Perkins, Art Wiser and Roger Chatman. Honoary pallbearers: Leo Salmon, Dr. Rex Carter, Dr. Juan Pineda, Walter Dixon, Charles Holman and Matthew Salmon.

Dorothy Fern (Wilson) Wheeler passed away at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday September 1, 2010 at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri. Dorothy was a life long Vandalia resident and was known to all as Mother, she was a long time member of the Second Christian Church of Vandalia where she was a member of the church choir and the Christan Women's Fellowship group. Dorothy attended area schools and worked as a pattern cutter at the Shoe Factory in Vandalia. Dorothy enjoyed cooking for church events, sending meals to workers at the brick plant and preparing meals for her family.

Born: July 28, 1923 in Vandalia, the daughter of Albert and Effie Mae (Harris) Wilson.

Married: Norman William Wheeler on June 21, 1940 in Vandalia; he preceeded her in death on May 25, 1990.

Survivors include: five sons: William Wheeler of Vandalia, Larry Wheeler and Janie Thomas of Vandalia, Kenneth and Edna Wheeler of Vandalia, Alfred and Gaile Wheeler of Warrenton and Wendell Wheeler and Renee Schoen of Vandalia; six daughters: Grace and Charles Burgett of Columbia, Missouri, Opal Mae and Ronnie Green of Vandalia, Linda Dothard of Rock Island, Illinois, Beverly and Roy McQuay of Vandalia, Donita and Gus Lewis of Marina, California and Kim and Myron Davis of Vandalia. Also survived by 37 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: Two brothers: Mack Wilson and Dempsey Wilson, one sister: Nonie Dixon.

All memorials are encouraged to The Second Christian Church in Vandalia.
