Visitation:
Wednesday, September 17, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia.
Service:

Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Vandalia.
Officiating will be: Pastor Kenneth Schamber.
Music provided by: Becky Spriggs - soloist; Carol Small - pianist.
Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra.
Pallbearers: Jim Jungers, Mike Hoover, Danny Elliott, Ronnie Hendrix, Floyd Vogt, Dale Fischer, Kenneth Foster and Adam Grove. Honorary pallbearers: Bill Hicks and Kevin Griggs.

Donald Eugene Elliott passed away at 1:41 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. Don attended schools in the Palmyra area and started working for Bleigh Construction in Hannibal as a mechanic. Don served in the U. S. Army for two years before returning to work for Bleigh. He moved to Vandalia in 1983 and continued to work for Bleigh until he retired in 1996. Don then started working for the City of Vandalia for several years before his health prevented him from working any longer. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Vandalia where he had served as an elder. Don enjoyed being a "shade tree" mechanic for friends, watching Cardinal baseball and spending time with family.

Born: September 24, 1938 in Emerson, Missouri the son of Otto Eugene and Bertha Marie (Schoenborn) Elliott.

Married: Brenda Marie Hartung on May 28, 1983 in Vandalia; she survives.

Survivors include: wife, Brenda of Vandalia; one step-daughter, Holly K. Jungers of Mexico; two brothers: Dallas and wife, Mary Elliott and George and wife, Naomi Elliott all of Palmyra; two sisters: Erleen Martin of Tucson, Arizona and Ruth Smith of Sheridan, Arkansas; also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by: parents; one brother, Virgil Elliott.

Memorials are encouraged to the St. John Lutheran Church in Vandalia.
