Service:

Monday, August 12, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Faith Tabernacle Church of God in Christ.
Officiating will be: Bishop Frank Douglas Jr.
Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Shannon Jackson, Roy McQuay, Joe Walker, Mike Reynolds, Larry Clark and Pastor Darrel Wiser. Honorary pallbearers: Robert Smith III, Gary Smith, Charles Smith, Brett Wellington, Sam Chatman, Steve Hunter, John Gilkey and Sam Gilkey.

Deloris Mae (Savage) Smith passed away with family by her side at 8:12 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at the Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, Missouri. Deloris graduated high school from the Western Baptist Seminary in 1955. After her marriage to Richard, they moved to the Vandalia area from DesMoines, Iowa in July 1965. Deloris had worked for several years at Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia as a CNA. In August 1989, she started working at the WalMart Store in Mexico. After the store expanded, she worked in the pharmacy at WalMart for many years and also was a cashier. Deloris retired from WalMart in October 2010. Deloris was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Church of God in Christ where she was active in church singing groups, a soloist and helping Richard with the Sunday morning services. She enjoyed collecting tropical fish, antique collectibles, early Negro art and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Born: September 29, 1937 in Champaign, Illinois the daughter of Albert Rudolph and Reba Margaret (Bryant) Savage.

Married: Richard Lee Smith on November 14, 1955 in Vandalia, Missouri.

Survivors include: husband, Rev. Richard L. Smith Sr. of rural Vandalia; two sons: Richard L. Smith Jr. and wife, Mary of Sacramento, California; Ian G. Smith of Vandalia; one daughter, Shelley M. Dillion of Kansas City, Missouri; 10 grandchildren: Robin P. Jones, Brice A. Dillion, Cassandra A. Smith, Ian G. Smith Jr., Cedric L. Smith, Sidney Smith, McKenzie Smith, Torianna Smith, Levi S. Smith and Scott C. Smith Jr.; three great-grandchildren: Madison Jones, Payton Jones and Camille Smith; also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: parents; one son, Scott Cedric Smith; one daughter, Robin P. Smith; one grandson, Alexander Smith.

Memorials are encouraged to the Faith Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in Vandalia.
