Service:

Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel, 500 S. Main Street in Vandalia, Missouri 63382.
Officiating will be: Rev. Dr. Kenneth G. Jarvis.
Music provided by: Joy Davis - pianist.
Interment will be in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery near Vandalia.
Pallbearers: Tony Jeffries, Frank Jeffries, Bob Jeffries, Darryl Jeffries, Melissa Dempsey and Gary Deppe.

David Edward Jeffries passed away at 1:25 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the Pin Oaks Care Center in Mexico, Missouri. Having grown up and attending schools in the Busch, Missouri area, David served his country in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. After his military service, he returned to his work as a machinist at the Harbison Walker Refractories in Vandalia. David worked for Harbison Walker for over 32 years, retiring in July 1984. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Vandalia and a charter member of the Vandalia Country Club. David enjoyed golf, fishing and spending time with his family.

Born: August 12, 1922 in Busch, Missouri the son of Samuel and Haley (Moore) Jeffries.

Married: Lois E. Hoffmeyer on June 22, 1947 in Hannibal, Missouri; she survives at the home.

Survivors include: wife, Lois of Vandalia; two sons: Darryl and wife, Ruth Jeffries of Palmyra, Missouri; Bob and wife, Sonya Jeffries of Frankford, Missouri; one daughter, Cathy Jeffries of Jones, Oklahoma; one sister, Betty Baker of San Bernadino, California; six grandchildren: Tony and wife, Christine Jeffries of Emden, Missouri; Frank and wife, Brandy Jeffries of Palmyra; Melissa Dempsey of Mexico, Missouri; Nathan and wife, Ashley Jeffries of New London, Missouri; Jules Eoff III of Wellsville, Missouri and Coletta Eoff of Vandalia; also survived by ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: five brothers, Robert Jeffries, Louis Jeffries, Eugene Burke, Jack Burke and Frank Burke; two sisters, Doris Chandler and Margaret Jeffries.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to the First Presbyterian Church, P O Box 240, Vandalia, Missouri 63382 or the Community Hospice of America.
