Dane McCrum, Age 64, of Farber Missouri, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024, at his home.
A memorial gathering will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am, on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Waters funeral Home.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Waters Funeral Home.
Dane was born on February 9, 1960, the son of Carl and Shirley (Wikop) McCrum in Braddock Pennsylvania. After graduating high school, Dane served four years in the Navy.
Dane was, without a doubt, a man of many skills. He had an uncanny ability to be both the life of the party and the guy who’d fall asleep on the couch as soon as he starts the movie– usually with the TV on an obnoxiously loud volume level, after giving unsolicited advice about how “they just don’t make movies like they used to.” He was the guy who knew anything and everything —except how to use his own cell phone, which, of course, always seemed to go out right when he was about to win the level in candy crush. Now Dane swore he was going to win the lottery one day, and never went a day without visiting the local gas station for his usual scratch offs, though he would forget to turn them in from time to time. He had a true talent for ignoring the directions on just about everything—whether it was driving to an appointment, hooking up a stereo system, or, let’s face it, doing anything that required patience. He had a passion for cooking, washing and taking his trucks out for a nice drive, mowing his lawn, throwing down on the grill and riding motorcycles (when he was much younger)—which, ironically, often ended with him not taking the truck(s) out for a spin, but instead making a pork steak and playing a game on his phone. Still, he somehow made his stories worth retelling at every gathering, where we would laugh politely and pretend we hadn’t heard it 100 times before. But beyond the sarcasm, there was no question: he was fiercely loyal, quick with a laugh, and always there when you needed him—whether it was car trouble or just to complain about the way life can sometimes be. He was loved by everyone that knew him and he will be sorely missed.
Dane is survived by one daughter; Hayley McCrum and her significant other, Cody Ames, two brothers; David McCrum and Carl McCrum, two sisters; Phyllis Beeco and Yvonne Firczac, and one granddaughter; Aubrie Ames.
Dane is preceded in death by his parents and brother; Jay McCrum.
Memorials are suggested to Hayley McCrum to help with funeral expenses.
