Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel, 500 S. Main Street in Vandalia, Missouri 63382.
Officiating will be: Rev. Dr. Kenneth G. Jarvis.
Music provided by: Shirley Forgy - pianist.
Interment will be in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Vandalia, Missouri.
Pallbearers: Kenneth Herlinger, Gary Nolan, Bob Jerman and Burton Hopke.
Colliss W. Potter passed away at 12:50 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia, Missouri. Colliss was a lifelong mason and a man of many talents, especially woodworking. During his early career in Maine, he worked at his brother Roy's sawmill and operated a small farm where he raised pigs and grew blueberries. In the 1950's, Colliss and wife, Dorothy, moved their young family to southern California where he completed his working career as a construction maintenance engineer for the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Colliss and Dorothy attended the Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church and enjoyed their travels to Maine, Florida and California.
Born: October 16, 1911 near Whitefield, Maine the son of William A. and Ida May (Dow) Potter.
Married: Dorothy M. Nuckles on June 9, 1936 in DeLand, Florida; she preceded him in death on November 23, 2007.
Survivors include: one daughter, Sylvia Jean Barnett of Vandalia, Missouri; two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: wife, Dorothy; one sister, Mildred Potter.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church in care of Waters Funeral Chapel, P O Box 84, Vandalia, MO 63382-0084.
