Christopher Allen Gerdeman, age 31, of St. Louis, MO, formerly of Vandalia, MO, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2025.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Waters Funeral Home. Rev. Jamie Franke will officiate.
Visitation to celebrate Christopher's life will be held from 12:00 PM until the time of the service, Saturday at Waters Funeral Home.
A private family burial will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Christopher was born on March 14, 1994, in Troy, Missouri, the son of Linda (Wehmeyer) Gerdeman.
Survivors include his mother, Linda Gerdeman of Vandalia, MO; brother, John Gerdeman Ray of Dallas, TX; sister, Sarah Gerdeman of Houston, TX; niece Versaya Salgado and nephew Elisandro Christopher Salgado; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Edward and Carol Wehmeyer, and great grandparents Kenneth and Patsy Todd.
Christopher graduated from Van-Far High School in 2012.
Professionally, Christopher was employed by Waters Furniture and more recently as a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in Chesterfield, MO.
A true outdoorsman at heart, Christopher found joy and peace on the water—whether kayaking, fishing, or simply soaking in the calm. He had a special love for the mountains of Colorado, where he’d escaped to reconnect with nature and himself. He found passion for adventure, finding joy in traveling the country to new places with friends and loved ones.
His adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors were matched by his commitment to health and fitness; he found energy and purpose in working hard, staying active, and encouraging others to do the same. He inspired those around him to better themselves and to better understand others.
Christopher also had a keen interest in genealogy research, an interest he picked up from his Grandpa Wehmeyer. He dedicated time to exploring his family's history and connections, cherishing the stories and lineage that shaped his identity. This pursuit deepened his appreciation for family and the bonds that connect generations. This in turn helped him to understand and value the connections between past and present family members.
But above all, Christopher treasured friends and family. He never missed a quiet moment with those he loved most. His laughter, stories, and presence brought warmth and connection to every room he entered.
Honorary Pallbearers will be John Gerdeman Ray, Evan Case, and Paul Ray.
