Charles Michael Culwell

Charles Michael “Mike” Culwell, age 63, of Vandalia, MO passed away at 2:07 pm Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the Pike County Memorial Hospital, Louisiana Missouri.  

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Vandalia. Pastor Brian Lehenbauer and Pastor Bob Hoehn will officiate. Burial will be in the Vandalia Cemetery immediately following. 

Visitation celebrating the life of Mike Culwell will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Friday January 19, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Vandalia. Masonic Service will be held at 7:45 pm. 

Mike was born on May 2, 1960, in Hannibal, Missouri the son of Ronald and Dorothy (Holmes) Culwell.

He was united in marriage to Lori (Nolan) Culwell on October 24, 2009, at Mt. Olivet Church.  

Survivors include Wife, Lori of Vandalia; Mother, Dorothy Culwell of Mexico; Two Daughters, Sara (Paul) Marshall of Mexico and Lacy (Payton) Hinch of Vandalia; Two Stepsons, Nolan (Taiylor) Gilley of Lee’s Summit, Cody (Sabrina) Gilley of Bowling Green;  Two Sisters, Ronnie (Gary) Pease of Laddonia, Karen Reading of Mexico; Five Grandsons, RJ Marshall, Quint Hinch, Carter Gilley, Cooper Gilley, Gray Gilley; Two Granddaughters, Payslee Hinch, Kati Marshall and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is mother-in-law, Joyce Nolan (Denny Wright) and sister-in-law, Natalie Gibson (Lucas).

Mike is preceded in death by His Father, Ronald Culwell and Brother-in-Law Howard Reading. 

Mike enjoyed assisting the Honor Flight, trout fishing and riding his motorcycle whenever he could.  He loved his family and watching his family participating in sporting events.

Mike was a member of the Free Masons and the Sons of Light Riding Association.   

Pallbearers are Nolan Gilley, Cody Gilley, Payton Hinch, Paul Marshall, Lucas Gibson and Gage Gibson

Honorary Pallbearers are The Sons of Light riding Association, Lyndle Chrisman, Eugene McDonald, Todd Groshans and Dave Sanders. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Greater St. Louis Honor Flight Inc or the Sons of Light, in care of Waters Funeral Home.
