Carolyn Sue Gish

Carolyn Sue Gish, 82, of Vandalia, MO, passed away at 4:45 AM Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Waters Funeral Home. Pastor Randy McDonald and Brother Kenny Haddock will officiate. Burial will be in the Vandalia Cemetery following the service.

Visitation celebrating Carolyn Sue Gish's life will be held at 1:00 PM until the time of service Saturday, July 6, 2019, at the Waters Funeral Home.

Carolyn was born on November 5, 1936, in Rural Center, Missouri, the daughter of Wilburn and Edith (Kirtlink) Dowell.

She was united in marriage to Robert (Bob) D. Gish on September 15, 1955, at First Baptist Church, Vandalia, Missouri. He survives.

Other survivors include 2 daughters, Rhonda (Dennis) Smith of Vandalia, MO, Renee (Merle) James of Vandalia, MO; 1 brother, Larry Dowell of Center, MO; 1 sister, Lana (John) Black of Perry, MO; 2 granddaughters, Jolene (Konstantin) Chartkov of Columbia, MO, Brooke James of Kirksville, MO; 3 step-grandsons, Scott Smith of Vandalia, MO, Eric Smith of Washington, MO, Jamey Smith of Washington, MO; 2 great-granddaughters, Katie and Maggie Chartkov; 6 step great-grandchildren; 1 step great-great-grandson, special nieces, nephews, and lots of other loved family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, Marvin Dowell and 2 sisters-in-law, Connie Dowell and Zandra Dowell.

Carolyn graduated as Valedictorian of her class from Vandalia High School. Upon graduation, she worked the majority of her life at various area businesses in office administrative and payroll positions, along with raising her family.

She enjoyed her flowers, music, and dancing, but her greatest love was her family

Carolyn was a member of Adiel Baptist Church of Frankford, MO.

Pallbearers will be Billy White, Jim Stotler, Dennis Smith, Merle James, Konstantin Chartkov, and Jim Miller.

Memorial contributions may be made to Adiel Baptist Church or Community Loving Care Hospice of Bowling Green, MO, in care of Waters Funeral Home.
