Carl Lee Yager, Sr., age 74, of Vandalia, Missouri, passed away at 7:27 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
A private graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Vandalia Cemetery, with Brother Kenny Haddock officiating. Interment will follow at the cemetery.
Carl was born on December 12, 1951, in Mexico, Missouri, the son of Marvin C. Yager, Sr. and Virginia A. (Rinker) Yager.
He was united in marriage to Donna Lee (Merson) Yager on August 4, 1972, in Baltimore, Maryland. She preceded him in death, and their years together were a source of great love and companionship.
Carl is survived by his brother, Marvin Yager and wife, Rose, of Vandalia, Missouri; two sisters, Carla Hobbs of Martinsburg, Missouri, and Janet Lynn of Farber, Missouri; his daughter-in-law, Tanya Yager of Tucson, Arizona and two grandchildren, Gene Yager and Victoria Yager of Tucson Arizona; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will sadly miss him.
In addition to his beloved wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, David Lee Yager and Carl “Buddy” Yager, Jr.; and one sister, Carlotta Yager.
Carl proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1970 to 1972, fulfilling his duty with honor and dedication.
He was employed as an electrician at Harbison Walker in Vandalia, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dependable nature throughout his years of service.
Carl was baptized at Spencer Creek Baptist Church. He found great enjoyment in spending time at the bowling alley, where he not only bowled but also visited with many friends. He had a lifelong interest in RC planes, trains, and slot cars, hobbies that brought him much enjoyment over the years. Carl also loved fishing and spending time outdoors. Above all, Carl treasured the time he spent with his family and friends, especially the moments shared with his beloved wife, Donna. His presence, stories, and companionship will be deeplymissed by all who knew and loved him.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Dylan Stowers, Justin Stowers, Tony Yager, Joe Resor, Zach Scrogin, Aarron Hull, and Wayne Baker.
Arrangements are under the direction of Waters Funeral Home.
