Alvin Wayne Fowler

Alvin Wayne Fowler, age 76, of Vandalia, MO passed away at 11:43 am Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital in Columbia, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Waters Funeral Home. Pastor Bob Hoehn will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO following the service. 

Visitation celebrating Alvin's life will be held at 10:00 am until the time-of-service Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at the Waters Funeral Home. 

Alvin was born on August 7, 1945, in Louisiana, Missouri the son of Gilbert and Lois (Galloway) Fowler.

He was united in marriage to Ruth (Kathy) Fowler on June 13, 1970, in Auxvasse City Presbyterian Church. Alvin and Ruth were married for over 51 years. During this entire time Alvin never allowed for his wedding ring to be removed from his hands.

Survivors include his Wife; Niece, Lori Marie Newman (Jim); Nephew, Lane Rae Stewart (Ellen); Brother-in-law, Bob Stewart; Sister-in-law, Linda Walker; and many loved cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his Parents and Sister, Bonnie Marie Stewart. 

Alvin graduated from Van-Far High School Class of 1963. He honorably served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967 where he was proud to be a Drill Sergeant. He also was a graduate of the University of Missouri in Columbia, Class of 1970 with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture.

Alvin loved farming and worked very hard at it for 13 years. He was an owner/operator driver from 1986 to 1989. In 1989 Alvin made the decision to get his own authority and became his own trucking company, Fowler Trucking. He hauled for a company in Fulton, MO hauling over dimensional loads North to South and East to West. He did this until 2014 when he had to retire. If Alvin wasn't working, he kept himself busy out in his shop tinkering with things. He loved to weld and build different projects for the farm and house. Alvin was a gentleman and always took pride in himself to look presentable. He loved his friends and spending time with them just visiting and making jokes.

Alvin was a member of the Spencer Creek Baptist Church. 

Pallbearers will be Levi Iman, Pat Van Vactor, Randall Galloway, Gary Fowler, Bruce Fowler and Glenn Fowler.

Honorary Pallbearers are Jerry Wright, Cary Rohr, Kenny Walker, John Walker and Brad Davis.

Memorial contributions may be made to Spencer Creek Baptist Church 41403 Hwy P, Vandalia, MO 63382, in care of Waters Funeral Home.
