Alta Emma Joiner

Alta Emma Joiner, age 94, of Vandalia, MO passed away at 6:45 pm Friday, September 18, 2020, at Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia. 

The family will host a celebration in Iowa at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are being handled by the Waters Funeral Home of Vandalia. 

Alta was born on August 24, 1926, in Seymour, Iowa the daughter of William and Eva (Patterson) Walker.

She was united in marriage to William Joiner and he preceded her in death in 1980.

Survivors include one daughter, Eva Knepp of Davenport, IA; five grandchildren, Carrie, Jason, Michael, Dale and Chris; eleven great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and loved family and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Larry Joiner; two sisters, Lula Roths and Ruby Taylor; one son-in-law, Arthur Knepp; one daughter-in-law, Raeann Joiner and two brothers-in-law, Al Taylor and Dale Roths.

Alta was born and raised in Iowa where she worked as a nurses aid for the Overstreets Nursing Home.

She loved playing bingo, fishing, spending time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends.
