Monday, February 28, 2011 from 5 - 8 p.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia, Missouri.
Service:

Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel, 500 S. Main Street in Vandalia, Missouri 63382.
Officiating will be: Rev. Bob Hoehn.
Music provided by: selected favorite hymns.
Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Michael Atkinson, Clint Allen, Matt Shramek, Bill Oliver, Bob Oliver and Tom Oliver.

Alta Mae (Butler) Allen passed away at 10:05 a.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri. Alta attended schools and was raised in the rural Montgomery area. She worked for a few years at the shoe factory and then started working at the Bobby Brooks Garment Factory in Vandalia. Alta worked there until it closed in 1982 and then worked for the HTI/Leggoons garment factory, until it closed in 1995. She was baptized into the Methodist Church and had been a Boy Scout leader many years ago. Alta enjoyed camping, boating and dancing with "Pete" and she was an avid reader.

Born: April 20, 1932 in rural Montgomery County, Missouri the daughter of Thomas Frank and Jesse Lee (Preston) Butler.

Married: Robert Warren "Pete" Allen on September 27, 1949 in Montgomery City, Missouri; he survives at the home.

Survivors include: husband, "Pete" of Vandalia; three sons: Rick and wife, Glenda Allen of Vandalia; Nick Allen of Vandalia; Tim and wife, Dottie Allen of Mexico; three daughters: Terry Allen and Ronnie Moore of rural Vandalia; Debbie and husband, Bill Shramek of rural Perry, Missouri; Nancy and husband, "Shorty" Stotler of rural Vandalia; 13 grandchildren: Michael Atkinson, Shonda Suddarth, Clint Allen, April Allen, Matt Shramek, Melissa Allen, Jessica Senor, Ronni Kay Motley, Shelby Allen, Brooke Allen, Alisha Hays, Stacy Branstetter and Lynette Chrisman; also survived by 22 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: parents; one daughter who died in infancy in 1951; two brothers: Virgil Butler and Jasper Butler; one sister, Martha Davis; one son-in-law: Ronnie Motley Jr.; one grandson, Blake Allen.
